A piece of cycling history can be yours.
On 19th July 1993 L’Equipe, The French Daily Newspaper celebrated the achievement of The Flying Scotsman, Graeme Obree on breaking The World Hour Record eclipsing the mark set by Francesco Moser nine years earlier.
In respect of this remarkable achievement by Graeme Obree aboard ‘Old Faithful’ the bike he lovingly crafted and built, L’Equipe the French National Daily Newspaper led with a front page tribute to Obree. The Incredible Mr Obree was the headline.
Subsequently, Graeme Obree was invited to receive the actual photographic plate (chromalin) from which that front cover of L’Equipe was produced and he was presented the framed chromalin from The Head of The Newspaper. He has kept that unique souvenir of one of Cycling’s greatest moments until now.
Graeme Obree has decided to offer this unique memento of cycling history for auction and is accepting bids in an online auction.
This auction is open from today 20th March 2014, and will close on 30th March 2014 at 12.00noon. Graeme Obree will also consider delivery of the item to the successful bidder in person.
There is a reserve price and if the price is not met the item will be withdrawn from auction.
